BGMEA election will be free and fair: Salam Murshedy

Apparel Correspondent: Abdus Salam Murshedy, Former President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Managing Director of Envoy Group and Chief Election Coordinator of Sammilita Parishad said there is no fear of the upcoming BGMEA election.

He said, “As a former president, I want to assure you that the election will be free and fair even if there is no opportunity for using biometrics this year.”

He was speaking during inaugural function of Sammilita Parishad’s office in the capital’s Gulshan on Monday, February 15.

Sammilita Parishad panel leader and Managing Director of Giant Group Faruque Hassan said, “We have to ensure sustainable business in the ready-made garment (RMG) industry. As well, I would like to focus on enhancing the buyer-owner relationship. I also want to strengthen the relationship with the media. Although the media fellowship is currently closed and we want to reopen it again.”

“I would also like to continue all the good works of the present board. Besides, our board will work to brand Bangladesh in global market. I also want to take this sector a long way with the cooperation of all associations including Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA),” Faruque Hassan added.

Former and current leaders of BGMEA, BKMEA and other stakeholders were also present on the occasion.
