M Kamal Uddin to form separate cell for small factories

Apparel Correspondent: We will form a separate cell for the country's small and medium ready-made garment (RMG) factory owners' to solve their problems, said Mohammed Kamal Uddin, Managing Director of Torque Fashions Ltd.

Kamal, the successful entrepreneur in the RMG industry, is contesting for the post of Director under the Sammilita Parishad panel in the upcoming Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) election which is scheduled to be held on April 4. Faruque Hassan, Managing Director of Giant Group, is leading Sammilita Parishad. The ballot number of Sammilita Parishad panel members starts from 36 to 70 while Kamal’s ballot serial number is 56.

“In our election manifesto, we have given the focus on the impact of the post-COVID-19 pandemic. Our panel have highly qualified candidates and we will work for exploring the new export market, reviewing existing government's customs policies, working for import-export data automation, simplifying goods delivery process, and others after winning the election,” said Kamal, also the Director of Bangladesh Garments Executives Association (BGEA) and Bangladesh Indenting Agents' Association (BIAA).

The election will select the BGMEA's new Board of Directors for 2021-23. In the election, 70 candidates of the two panels named Sammilita Parishad and Forum are contesting for the posts of 35 Directors of Dhaka and Chattogram.
