My goal is to employ 50,000 people

Special Correspondent: “On the day when I will be able to employ 50,000 people in my factories and offices, I will think that my birth as a human being has become successful.” — Amal Podder CIP, Managing Director of Metro Knitting and Dyeing Mills Ltd said this in an interview to The Apparel News after receiving the CIP Card for 2015 from the Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed at Hotel Radisson on September 3.

Metro Knitting and Dyeing Mills Ltd is a renowned 100% Knitwear exporter in Bangladesh. At present, about 18 thousand people have been employed in this organization. Mr. Amal Podder was awarded the CIP status five times in a row.
Amal Podder said, “We took a plot of 100 acres in Mirsarai Economic Zone. We will set up big industries there, where 10 to 15 thousand people will be employed.”
What is the feeling of getting CIP status? When asked, he said, it’s a great feeling. CIP status is got after many hard works, many talents, many successes. I have been a CIP five times in a row. To be a CIP, we have to go through many criteria.
He expressed his opinion that we will have to come forward with more talent and technology to meet the export target of 50 billion dollars in the apparel sector in 2021. He said, our country is very potential. If the government can ensure the energy security and communication infrastructure, then achieving this goal is not a matter for us.
What do you want to see yourself in the future? - Laughing out on such a question Mr. Podder replied, “I want to see myself as a real successful businessman.”
It is to be noted that for the recognition of significant contributions to the country’s export sector, the government has nominated Mr. Amal Podder as CIP (Commercially Important Person) for the fifth time, and Mrs. Preeti Podder, Chairman of Bea-Con Knitwear Limited was nominated CIP for the fourth consecutive year. In the presence of top businessmen and high officials of the government, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed presented the CIP cards at a ceremony on September 3, 2018. On behalf of Mrs. Preeti Podder, General Manager (Marketing and Merchandising) Mr. Balaram Roy Chowdhury received the CIP card.
